Every event brings questions, and every question leads (quite often) to a Google search. Even in 2020 we relied on the “big G” with a lot of queries… let’s go through this year through the trending Google search of 2020*.
The arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic has affected most of our everyday-life issues and, perhaps, it has speeded up some great changes for a large part of the population, especially on an ethical and moral level.
Normality has been overturned, but a sense of hope for a better future won out, compared with the hope of a return to the past. The search “how to change the world” has indeed been double the search “how to get back to normality”.
In this perspective, the environment and its future have been part of our thought and the search “how to stop climate change” has reached a level never reached in the past years.
We relied on essential workers, for us safety net and model of hope and tenacity The search “how to thanks teachers/nurses/bus driver/doctors” are on top of the charts.
A true source of inspiration has been the health care workers, the major query during the pandemic is “how to become nurse”.
Perhaps we became more generous and altruistic, and “how to donate” exceeds twice “how to save money”. Compared to 2019 also “support small businesses” doubles.
For our mental health it has probably not been a very good year and all over the world we searched the word “meditation”.
Someone might have lost sense of time, staying at home can lead to that. Which is why, in April, the search “what day is today” has reached its all-time record.
Lots of us were probably bored, especially children… “trick to play on parents” ranks as a trending search of 2020.
These were just a few search of 2020… find out more visiting the Google Trends complete list.
