Is Social Media really making us less lonely?

Social networks are more and more present in our lives, we use them to keep in touch with our friends, listen to music, share our thoughts, shop online and organize trips.

Several studies are trying to determine whether this relatively new phenomenon is influencing our life in a positive or negative way

Two opposite theories exist: disengagement and stimulation.

If on one side it’s true that virtual relationships are often considered of less importance and not always grow into real connections, it is also true that social media provide us with information and make it easier to stay in touch with each other.

Social media also help us find communities that share our same interests, which makes us feel less lonely.

The real question is: could we happily survive without our phones or are we addicted to them?
