If you live in Milan and you are a university student, you must know what the Schiscetta is.
Schiscetta is a dialect word, typically from Milan, that refers to the lunchbox used to bring the homemade lunch to university, or even to work.
Loved by many, hated by others (especially by the laziest students), the Schiscetta is a great university partner, that will be with you in the happiest and darkest moments, but especially in those of hunger!
Let’s find out some easy and quick recipes to prepare your Schiscetta.
Black rice, pesto, cherry tomatoes and shrimps (you can eat it warm or cold)
There is really nothing easier, just a few steps:
- Boil the desired amount of black rice in some salted water
- In the meantime, cut in four pieces the cherry tomatoes
- Boil a few shrimps in water, slightly salted. Frozen shrimps are fine, they will be ready in just a few minutes
- Once everything is ready, mix the ingredients all together in a bowl and add some pesto
Just put the rice in your Schiscetta and be ready to enjoy it during your lunch break.
Lazy Caesar salad
Who said that salad cannot be quick to prepare but also tasty? You just need a few steps and ingredients:
- Mix your favourite salad, a grilled chicken breast cut in stripes, croutons of toasted bread and parmesan flakes
- Season with oil and salt to taste, or with your favourite dressing
- If you want an extra-boost of proteins, add a boiled egg cut into slices

Piadina with cured ham, squacquerone and arugula
Sometimes this kind of piadina can be underestimated, but still, it remains always a tasty certainty. With just a few simple ingredients you will enjoy a delicious lunch break. Just some steps:
- Heat up the piadina, first on one side and then on the other
- Spread plenty of squacquerone over half of the piadina
- Now put desired amount of arugula and cured ham in
- Fold the piadina in half
