Campus Monneret again selected by OHM for of its excellent architectural project

Concluded the fourth edition of the event with the aim of sharing and rediscovering modern and contemporary architectural heritage of the city.

Open House, the two-day annual event now in its fourth edition, is increasingly becoming a point of reference for Milanese architecture, as well as worldwide. It is in fact an international event that take place on 4 continents and 50 cities. A weekend of discovery and rediscovery of buildings of architectural, artistic and cultural interest, normally not accessible.

For another year the Campus In-Domus Monneret was selected among the locations in Milan which, through an architectural project of excellence, contribute to the sustainable development of the territory and its heritage, promoting dialogue between public and private, between citizens and enterprises, and increasing the sense of belonging to your own city.

The Campus is in fact the result of a recovery and reconstruction project of an old student residence, realized in 2015 by GaS Studio, the International Architecture and Interior Design Studio that includes some of the most significant and recognizable works of the city.

Created with the aim of creating a new and efficient student residential complex, the project solves a series of critical issues related to the existing building, including safety and energy consumption.

The new intervention on the building, located in a heavily man-made fabric and affected by a dense network of pre-existing settlements, has remodeled the envelope through a new façade characterized by infixed volumes played on the grid of the perimeter walls, thus creating a more volumetric character homogeneous and recognizable and favoring a more harmonious dialogue with the buildings of the area and the public spaces that surround it.

The construction of a strong identity, linked to sustainable development and harmony with the surrounding area, has therefore allowed the In-Domus Monneret Campus to fit into the context of a city in transformation, with its roots in artistic richness and cultural that characterizes Milan from antiquity onwards.
