Have you decided to spend Christmas in Milan? Surely it is the ideal place to experience a fun-filled Christmas. As always, this year the city offers plenty of events that will make your holidays unforgettable.
Many residents of the In-Domus campuses are getting ready to go home and celebrate with family and friends, others, however, will remain here during the holidays.
There will be a coming and going of friends and relatives, and perhaps for some it will be their first time in the Lombard capital.
This is the right opportunity to visit and discover the city, wrapped in an atmosphere totally different from the rest of the year.
Today we present some of the most important and characteristic events that will take place during the month of December
from 19 November to 8 January
Every year the Indro Montanelli public gardens are transformed into an actual Christmas village. Entrance to the park is free even during the event and you can stroll around in a real Christmas atmosphere with merry-go-rounds, an ice skating rink, stalls, shows, Father Christmas’s house and the Befana’s house. Themed shows such as the elf circus, fairy tales and the puppet show take place every day.
from 1 December to 6 January
The largest Christmas market in the city, the Central Square is filled with more than 60 chalets selling handicraft items, such as balls, decorations, nativity scenes and hag stockings, perfect as gifts or decorations.
The Christmas market is open from 9am to 9pm and is the perfect place for an afternoon or evening walk. A true symbol of this market is the traditional Milanese Christmas tree that is lit during the opening ceremony.

On the other hand, if you wish to take a trip to the surrounding area, still with a Christmas theme, you can visit the suggestive markets in Piazza degli Alpini in Bergamo, amidst sweets, local products and handicrafts.
You can immerse yourself in the charming atmosphere of the Città dei Balocchi (Toy Town) in Como where stalls, shows, an ice skating rink and the enchanting Magic Light Festival light show await you.
Not to be missed in the ancient Borgo di Gromo, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, in Val Seriana, is Father Christmas’s house in the spaces of the ancient Palazzo Scacchi Filisetti, where magic and excitement await young and old to bring joy and fun.
