Now that classes started, it can be difficult to balance your private life with your university student life.
Are you constantly in doubt whether to stay home studying or to go out with your friends? Whether to play sport or stay at the library till late hours? Relax, there is a solution and it is to get organized.
If you want to enjoy your university years, your new favourite word must be: planning.
It may seem boring, but once you schedule all your tasks, you will be able to understand the benefits of planning, and your university life will be much better.
Rule number one: attend classes. Going to class, even if it is not compulsory, has two pros. First benefit of attending classes is to facilitate studying: if you pay attention, your brain will easily remember the concepts and once home it will be easier to study. . Second, classes are the best place where to meet your classmates and socialize. Use break-times to chit-chat with your friends and always try to meet new people.
Second rule: study regularly, organizing study hours. This might be the hard and boring part but devoting a few hours each day to studying will save you from spending long nights awake before the exams. Depending on your class schedule, try to find at least one hour to fix class notes, in such a way you will easily store information.
Three: spend regular hours of study at the library or in the study rooms of your residence. The study rooms or the Library are places with few distractions, so you will be able to optimize the study hours. Moreover, these places are used by university students, just like you, and going to a study room or library can turn into an opportunity to meet friends, especially during breaks.
Rule number four: needless to say, do not get distracted. To maximize your efforts, it is crucial to keep distractions to a minimum. If in class, in the study room, or in the library, being seated next to your friends is distracting you, move a few desks away.
Rule five: duty yes, but also play. Do not live university with negativity, it is not your prison. Think about it as a place where to make friends and learn. Then find some time for some activities outside the university. Visit the city, play sport with your friends, go to the cinema or to the restaurant. Milan offers a lot of possibilities.
Balancing university life and social life is not impossible.
Even if sometimes it may seem hard, remember that In-Domus Campus guests, where you live, are probably in the same position.
Plan some studying moments all together, followed by some leisure activities to free (temporarily) your mind from the studies!
